Gangkar Rinpoche to Give Initiations & Teachings at the Tibetan Cultural Center

 

Gankar Tulku Lobsang Kunchok Tenzin of Gyuto Tantric Monastery will give a series of teachings and initiations at the Tibetan Cultural Center from October 21 through October 28, 2001. The Tibetan Cultural Center is located at 3655 Snoddy Road, Bloomington, Indiana.

On Sunday, October 21 at 1 p.m., Gankar Rinpoche will give the Chenrezig (Four-Armed) Initiation. Chenrezig is the Tibetan name for Avalokiteshvara, the Bodhisattva of Compassion.

On Sunday, October 28 at 1 p.m., Gankar Rinpoche will give the Twenty-One Tara Initiation. Tara is a female meditational deity who is regarded as the embodiment of all the buddhas' enlightened activity.

In addition, Gankar Rinpoche will give 5 teachings on "The Stages of the Path (Lam Rim) by Tsong Khapa. Read the detailed schedule for these teachings HERE.

Suggested Donation: $15 per initiation ($12 for students, seniors, and TCC members); $5 for each teaching ($4 for students, seniors, and TCC members); entire series of initiations and teachings: $50 ($40 students, senior, TCC members). However, if a person cannot pay, he will not be turned away. All are welcome!

In 1996 at the age of 32, Gankar Rinpoche obtained his Geshe Lharampa Degree (Ph.D). He has traveled extensively, teaching and performing rituals and prayers in Australia, USA, Canada, Switzerland, and India. He led a group of Drepung monks to the USA in 1995 and group of Gyuto monks to Australia in 1998.

Gankar Rinpoche was chosen by the Gyuto Monastery to serve as the resident teacher for the Gyuto Wheel of Dharma in Minnesota where he is presently residing.
