Medicine
Buddha Mandala |
From December
12 through December 15, 1999, monks from Drepung Gomang Monastery
created a Medcine Buddha sand mandala at the Tibetan Cultural
Center. This mandala is being preserved as an example of
Tibetan Culture in accord with the mission statement of the Tibetan
Cultural Center.
Below are some
pictures that show the process of making the mandala.
At the completion
of the mandala, the monks conducted a ceremony in which they
dismantled the Amitayus mandala that had been created in 1993
by monks from Drepung Loseling Monastery and preserved at the
TCC as an example of the art of Tibet. Below are some pictures
of the dismantling and the throwing of the sacred sand into the
pond at the TCC.
