A Garden that stands for World
Peace and Religious Harmony is planned near the Kalachakra stupa
which stands in front of the Chamtse Ling. The Kalachakra World
Peace stupa was completed in 1999 just before His Holiness the
Fourteenth Dalai Lama gave the Kalachakra initiation, the most
revered Buddhist teaching at TCC. Â Kalachakra, or wheel
of time, stands for world peace. Viewed from the new Chamtse
Ling temple which has been built on the very site where the Kalachakra
was held, the planned garden will be a place of beauty for all
to enjoy. It is our hope that this garden will remind visitors
of the need for Peace and Harmony in our world and that religious
strife can only be alleviated through tolerance and understanding
of others views.
Volunteers are needed to help
plant this garden. If you have the time, tools and any plants
that you would like to donate please come join us for an inspiring
afternoon. An added bonus is that since this garden will be planted
during Saga Dawa, great merit can be gained. Other items that
will be needed include bags of garden soil, and mulch.
Please bring gloves, hat, sunscreen,
and your green thumbs. Drinks will be provided.
If you would like to donate
a plant, soil or mulch, but cannot attend on Saturday, you may
drop them off at the center at any time during our regularly
scheduled hours. Monetary donations made out to TCC-Gomang and
noted it is for the Peace Garden are also welcome. Some
suggested plants we could use that will be in full bloom during
His Holiness' visit include: Butterfly bush, Asters, Marigolds,
Sedums, and Chrysanthemums. Volunteers will be treated to a Tibetan
MoMo party afterwards at the main building.
